Funding Agreement Signed
We're delighted to report that today the West London Free School Academy Trust signed a supplementary funding agreement with the Department for Education. Our funding agreement provides the framework within which the Kensington Primary Academy will operate.
Before entering into a funding agreement the Secretary of State needs to be satisfied that certain statutory duties are fulfilled by both the Trust and the Secretary of State. These are as follows:
- the Trust must complete a consultation in line with Section 10 of the Academies Act 2010; and
- the Secretary of State must complete an impact assessment of the opening of the free school on other state-funded educational institutions in the area.
In addition to this, the Secretary of State takes a number of considerations into account before entering into the funding agreement. These mainly focus on assessing the evidence that the school will provide high quality education once open, and be governed effectively.
Thankfully we've satisfied the Secretary of State that we've met all these conditions and can now move forward with the next stage of opening the Kensington Primary Academy
