Special Educational Needs

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator:

Kate Hitchins - KPA@wlfs-primary.org

At Kensington Primary Academy, we ensure that all children are able to access our curriculum. For those children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), provision is decided through the Assess, Plan, Do, Review model. The SENDCo and Class Teacher will work with the parents and the child, to ensure that individual targets are set for the child with SEND, to enable them to make progress. Additional support can be offered through in class support, additional intervention, booster groups and other resources such as visuals and manipulatives.

All children are supported to achieve through Quality First Teaching, which includes scaffolding, targeted questioning and prompt assessment.

When a child has a significant individual need, we make reasonable adjustments to our provision in order to ensure that their need is met. A times, we will work with external agencies such as the Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Early Help services, to ensure that we are able to provide the specialised support needed.
